At Cranbourne, we pride ourselves on being at the heart of our community. A welcoming 11-16 comprehensive school close to the town centre, our excellent facilities including expansive playing fields, swimming pool, Sports Hall, Fitness Suite, Hair and Beauty Salon and music rooms allow us to offer a diverse curriculum where students can immerse themselves in their passions. We promote a culture of respect, inclusivity and excellence encompassing our values of creativity, challenge, care and community. We are dedicated to the well-being of every student, and offer support through our specialist unit for students with Dyslexia, our SEN Department and mental health provision to ensure students feel safe, happy and supported.

Cranbourne students are very polite and helpful and made the primary students feel very welcomed at the Cluster Conference. Some of our girls were very nervous about coming to the 'big school' for the day, but they were instantly put at ease and had a fantastic time.
Cranbourne has cultivated a positive culture and ethos, focusing on creating a family feel and fostering positive relationships in lessons.
Student Leadership is phenomenal and staff adapt to student needs, focusing on whole-child development supported by the ethos curriculum, resulting in no disadvantaged gap.
It was lovely to see the staff and students talking about Cranbourne with such pride and enthusiasm. They really care about their school and are whole heartedly committed to making Cranbourne a safe, supportive and enjoyable place for our young people to be able to learn and thrive.
I am proud to be a member of the Cranbourne Community. Being a part of our students' educational journey is so special.

On Wednesday 10 December our Year 8 boys football team put on a great performance in the Power League Tournament, finishing in third place! The matches were extremely close and our team performed excellently, with fantastic sportsmanship throughout. Well done boys!
Today our students got into the festive spirit and enjoyed a tasty Christmas Lunch. They had the choice of turkey, gammon or butternut squash alongside a chocolate yule log for dessert. A huge thank you to the Canteen team for working so hard to prepare such a fantastic meal for us all to enjoy!
Last week, our Year 9 students delivered sessions to primary school students at Chalk Ridge as part of their Cranbourne Aspire Diploma. Our students were tasked with organising and planning sessions for the younger pupils and decided on Corner Football, Indoor Rounders, Slime Making and Basketball. We're so impressed by how well our Year 9s rose to the challenge and confidently delivered their activities like true leaders.
On Wednesday 17 December, students are invited to come to school wearing their favourite festive jumper in exchange for a £1 voluntary donation in support of Camrose Centre for Homeless and Vulnerably Housed People. All other uniform must be worn as normal.

Our annual Big Cranbourne Clear Up took place on Friday 12 December and was once again a huge success! 34 students headed out into our surrounding area armed with litter pickers, kindly donated to us by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council. They collected an impressive 16.5kg of landfill waste and 9kg of recyclable materials. Some other notable finds included 31kg of chairs, half a scooter, a piece of the school fence, some garden gnomes and a toilet door. A big thank you to Mr Targett and Mrs Blackburn for supervising our students and well done to all who got involved!
A reminder to check lost property before the end of term! We have had some more unnamed coats handed in last week. All unclaimed items will be donated to charity in the new year.
On Wednesday 3 December, our first Winter Showcase took place, where we were wowed by the phenomenal performances from our students. Year 9 Drama delivered some fantastic deadpan sketches, Year 9 Dance raised the energy with 'Rocking Robin' and we were impressed by the bravery of several first-time performers. Enjoy some clips of the evening!
Last night (10 December), we celebrated an evening of excellence at our Autumn Rewards' Evening. It was a fantastic opportunity to welcome parents to our school and reflect on the achievements and success of the Cranbourne Community. Cranbourne Vocal Band opened the evening with an fantastic performance of 'When You Believe' and Year 9 student Lily F wowed us with their original composition 'Toy Soldier'. The prestigious Headteachers Award was won by Year 7 student Leala P for making such an excellent start to school this year and really embracing what it means to be a Cranbourne student. We are so proud of our wonderful students who work hard in all that they do and hope they continue to strive towards excellence in everything.
We're once again encouraging students to take part in our school-wide social action project to support The Camrose Centre for Homeless and Vulnerably Housed People. We're asking for donations such as toiletries, non-perishable food, warm clothing and other practical essentials. Please bring any donations into school by Wednesday 17 December, ready to take to the Camrose on Thursday 18 December.
Last week, as part of our Wessex Wonder Woman initiative, we welcomed Katie from AWE and Cathy from Grandir UK to Cranbourne. Our Year 9 girls learned more about AWE's mission and how they protect the UK through nuclear science and technology, whilst Cathy offered them an insight into the world of early years, sharing stories about working with children in their nurseries. These sessions are an excellent opportunity for our students to learn more about different industries and gain insight into possible future career pathways. A big thank you to both Katie and Cathy for giving up their time to speak with our students. We're looking forward to welcoming our next guest speaker in the new year!
Don't forget it's Monitor Day this Friday! Students will be off timetable and only required to attend their appointment. There's still time to book your 10-minute slot if you have not yet done so – please click on the 'Parents' Evening' icon on Edulink.
