At Cranbourne, we pride ourselves on being at the heart of our community. A welcoming 11-16 comprehensive school close to the town centre, our excellent facilities including expansive playing fields, swimming pool, Sports Hall, Fitness Suite, Hair and Beauty Salon and music rooms allow us to offer a diverse curriculum where students can immerse themselves in their passions. We promote a culture of respect, inclusivity and excellence encompassing our values of creativity, challenge, care and community. We are dedicated to the well-being of every student, and offer support through our specialist unit for students with Dyslexia, our SEN Department and mental health provision to ensure students feel safe, happy and supported.
Cranbourne students are very polite and helpful and made the primary students feel very welcomed at the Cluster Conference. Some of our girls were very nervous about coming to the 'big school' for the day, but they were instantly put at ease and had a fantastic time.
Cranbourne has cultivated a positive culture and ethos, focusing on creating a family feel and fostering positive relationships in lessons.
Student Leadership is phenomenal and staff adapt to student needs, focusing on whole-child development supported by the ethos curriculum, resulting in no disadvantaged gap.
It was lovely to see the staff and students talking about Cranbourne with such pride and enthusiasm. They really care about their school and are whole heartedly committed to making Cranbourne a safe, supportive and enjoyable place for our young people to be able to learn and thrive.
I am proud to be a member of the Cranbourne Community. Being a part of our students' educational journey is so special.

On Tuesday 24 June, our annual Careers Fair took place where we welcomed 20 local businesses, colleges and universities to talk to students about their industries and the pathways that led them there. There was a wide range of sectors for students to explore including those from the NHS, Armed Forces, law and legal service, construction, arts and journalism and sports – to name a few! AoC Sport ran Q&A sessions throughout the morning where students could ask questions about their experience in the industry and discover more about careers in sport and football. We were also joined by Basingstoke College of Technology, Sparsholt College and University of Winchester who offered advice and discussed further education opportunities and apprenticeships. We were so impressed by how well our students conducted themselves throughout the event. They were fully engaged, asked thoughtful and insightful questions and were professional and polite. We received some fantastic feedback from our exhibitors, stating our students were a real credit to Cranbourne's commitment to learning. Year 10 student Fatma was the lucky winner of the competition run by HSS Training, who generously donated a £50 Five Guys voucher. A huge thank you to everyone who attended for giving up their time to support and inspire our Cranbourne Community as they begin to consider their life beyond Cranbourne.

Last week, we have welcomed Year 5 students from our Cluster Schools to experience life at Cranbourne. Throughout the week, the primary pupils participated in a number of exciting sessions including Performing Arts, History, Music, Science and MFL. Our Student Ambassadors were excellent, leading the sessions with confidence and showcasing all Cranbourne has to offer. The transition to secondary school can be a challenging time for families and we hope that running these sessions for our community helped to put their minds at ease and get them excited for their futures.
On Monday 23 June, our Green Cranbourne students were invited to present at the Hampshire Sustainability Conference for Senior School Leaders at The Hurst. They did a fantastic job at sharing our journey so far and the school leaders in attendance were very impressed with all we have accomplished, congratulating our students for their efforts and dedication to the cause. We're so proud of the confidence shown by our students whilst presenting and so thankful for all they do to support the Cranbourne Community in becoming more sustainable. We're looking forward to seeing what we can achieve next year!
Last week, our Year 8 girls competed in a home rounders fixture against Everest. They worked amazingly as a team with some excellent fielding and came away with a score of 7.5 points. Grace and Olivia both received player or the match for their bowling and fielding skills – well done girls!
As part of our Performing Arts Month, last week our Year 9 Drama and Year 8 Dance opt-in students took part in a dance and movement workshop with the incredible Autin Dance Theatre. The students had a fantastic time in the session, enjoying energetic warm ups, engagement movement games, creative tasks and a relaxing cool down. It encouraged fun, teamwork and self-expression. A huge thank you to Autin Dance Theatre for coming to work with our students, and of course to Mr Juliff for organising!
Our KS3 girls' cricket team made history this week by playing in their first ever competitive fixture – and what a way to kick things off! Facing off against The Hurst, our girls put in a fantastic performance, showing real determination, teamwork, and passion for the game. With impressive play throughout, they secured a brilliant win by 81 runs to 64! The team represented Cranbourne brilliantly, showing great enthusiasm and enjoyment in every part of the match – from batting and bowling to fielding and team support. A special shoutout goes to Grace M, who was voted Players' Player for her standout contribution on the day. Well done to all the girls – a truly memorable start to what we hope is the beginning of an exciting cricket journey!

Today, we said goodbye to our Year 11 students at their Leavers' Assembly. With the sun shining, our students gathered on the field for shirt signing and to enjoy an ice cream from Rossi's. We are extremely proud of the dedication you have shown to your education and we know the knowledge, values, character and sense of purpose you have developed over your time at Cranbourne will take you far as you continue to strive for excellence in everything you do. As you take the next steps on the paths you have chosen, remember you will always be part of the Cranbourne Community. We'll see you next week for Prom!
